Basic Menu

Experience a old townhouse/Machiya where the gods live (tour and talk about seasonal traditions) ￥2,200(tax incl.)

This is the basic menu for all plans. (This plan is automatically selected, please choose your preferred plan from the menu below.)
A guided tour of the inside of the Tondaya building, a machiya where the gods live. You can feel the life that cultivated the spirit of Japanese people.
*For the protection of cultural assets, we ask that you bring your own socks.

Kimono Dressing

All of our kimonos are made of the highest quality 100% silk, and our experienced kimonos will quickly put them on.You can wear a kimono inside the machiya. Please feel free to take pictures with the tatami room, Noh room, and six gardens in the background.

Tea Ceremony

Listen to an explanation of tea in the tea room and watch the tea ceremony. Would you like to learn the basics of how to enjoy tea and sweets? You can choose the tea room from [A] Ryurei ceremony or [B] special room, and we also have the option to enjoy the second cup in your own . We also accommodate groups, so please feel free to contact us.

Tea Ceremony[A] chair seat ￥5,500(tax incl.) You can enjoy tea while seated in a chair.
You will learn the basics of how to enjoy tea and sweets, but since most of the participants are first-timers, please feel free to try it out. For [A] plan, we will prepare "Usucha" which is a common type of matcha.
Tea Ceremony[B] Special Room ￥11,000(tax incl.) If you would like to have a tea ceremony room (Rakuju) built by the iemoto, please choose this plan. We will guide you to a Japanese-style room where you can sit on tatami mats and enjoy tea instead of chairs. At Rakuju, please enter through the small entrance (nijiriguchi) unique to tea rooms and enjoy tea in a special space.
[Option]making my own tea ￥3,300(tax incl.) This menu is a plan that adds the option of making your own tea to the Tea Ceremony [A]or[B]. <This is an option, so be sure to select [A] or [B] before adding it.>

This is a plan to make your own tea. You can make the second dose yourself. (Please note that you cannot take tools home.)

Cooking Plan

From dishes familiar to Kyoto to authentic menus taught by chefs, this is an experience that both cooking enthusiasts and non-cookers can enjoy while learning.

Making Japanese sweets ￥11,000(tax incl.) A Japanese sweets making professional will teach you. Please take this opportunity to experience making Japanese sweets, which is something you rarely experience in everyday life. The price includes the material cost of 2,200 yen.

Making Kyoto-style side dish ￥11,000(tax incl.) Obanzai is a home-cooked meal from Kyoto. It can also be used as a reference for daily cooking, such as using seasonal vegetables, using them without wasting them, and seasoning that takes advantage of the characteristics of the ingredients.

Machiya Wedding ￥165,000(tax incl.)
You will be specially invited to wear a traditional Uchikake with embarrassing embroidery, which cannot be reproduced today. After preparing for the wedding, the traditional Japanese wedding ceremony and memorial photos will be arranged. Tondaya staff will be your attendants in formal kimono.
An optional photo shoot by a photographer is available for 55,000 yen. (You will receive 100 photo data and 3 of your favorite photos in a frame.)
