About Ranja-no-kai
We, Ranja-no-kai, are a group of instructors specialized in the culture and making of Japanese incense. We gather 184 members from Okinawa to Hokkaido, devoted to and continuously improving themselves in this art. They do so by playing an active part in seminars, workshops, and events on Japanese incense all over Japan. They also got involved in relief efforts for victims of 2011 earthquake and tsunami, by offering handmade incense sachets and volunteering to conduct workshops on incense sticks.

About Japanese Incense
One of the great and established traditions of Japan, Japanese incense, originally came from China over 1500 years ago. It was further developed and refined in Japan, passed down through generations to match Japanese climateand natural features. It is now considered a unique Japanese tradition. Unchanged since old times, ingredients of Japanese incense include aloeswood, sandalwood, and herbs derived from leaves, bark, and roots which are usually used as ingredients in Chinese medicine. Those relaxing scents have been used for prayer, purification, leisure, everyday use, or as an amulet(omamori).
